BOTTLED BEER IN FERM ROOM - please remove from Brew House

The Fermentation Room has slowly been accumilating more and more bottles of beer that belong to members and not designated for events.

I am asking everyone who currently have bottles to remove them from the Ferm Room by August 30th.

The only time bottles are allowed in the fermentation room is when the bottles are for a CHAOS sanctioned event.  Bottles will be allowed to be housed in the Ferm Room for 21 days prior to an event and 7 days after.

Apologies for the ignorance,

Apologies for the ignorance, but is this a change in policy? I was always under the impression that it was OK to leave them there for a couple weeks to carbonate (I can't remember who, but someone once told me that you should carbonate bottles around the same temp as fermentation).

There has never been a formal

There has never been a formal policy, but at the last brew house the ferm room was too small to handle the fermenters and bottles so there was a sort of natural selection at work.  There would be bottles before and after parties, but for the most part it was bottle-free.

At the new brew house with the expanded ferm room and number of events that we have had during the summer months there has been a constant stash of bottles in the ferm room.  I think people have taken that stack along the wall to mean that it is okay to carb/store bottles in the ferm room, which is completely understandable.

To answer your orginial question, there has not a formal policy of bottles in the ferm room until today.

Along similar lines, there

Along similar lines, there are a lot of half empty kegs around the brew house. Some From various recent events, some partly full of who knows what. Can the owners of those please claim and/or organize them

My apologies as well, I was

My apologies as well, I was also under the impression that we could leave bottles in the femr room as well but I will move them out by the end of the week as well. I did want to ask what the policy would be on corny kegs in the ferm room since I will be getting one in the next few weeks.

I'm fairly certain the policy

I'm fairly certain the policy has always been, as stated by Ken above, for the ferm room to only be used for fermenting and storing bottles/kegs a week or two before one of our events.  At least, that's what I was told when I joined.

I know there was a thread

I know there was a thread months ago about ferm room signs regarding blow-off tubes and such. If signs are posted in there, this policy should be included.

I'll edit it to include this,

I'll edit it to include this, Brock. Good suggestion!

The signage is ready to go. Better something than nothing so I'll print it off and stick it in some plastic sleeves and hang it on the ferm room door next time I'm there.
