Dave, it's at cicero and addison, I was going to talk to Iggi tonight before sending you out there for it as he seemed to think it'd be more of a hastle trying to throw walls up for the tents.  I'll talk to Stephen in the meantime about picking it up.

Are you going to be able to get the costco tarps?

I was planning putting walls

I was planning putting walls up on the canopy I have using heavy duty tarps. I can certainly tie that tent to any other you have. Have you considered using the existing tents for verticle support of your structure? Just a thot and might save some lumber costs...or streech the lumber further...

Daniel I still need that info you said you'd send me for the second tent.

By the way, Tasting Table

By the way, Tasting Table reaches a lot of readers (and we never set a limit on capacity). So, we may want to be prepared for 100 people.

By the way, Tasting Table

By the way, Tasting Table used our poster which Steven created.

Some kudos and gratitude to go Steven for our professional graphics arts. When I was hanging up the Stout & Chili night posters last night I noticed (like I did for Ides) that our very tasteful, artistic, classy, professional posters really stand out from the crowd of black-and-while, 8"x11" photocopies most people make. Steven does an f'ing awesome job on these!

tent will be 10x12, running lengthwise on the concrete pad butted against the brew house north facing wall.  you have to enter the tent to enter the brew house. it will be pitched lengthwise down the middle.  at the sides, it will be 7 ft tall, to the height of about 10 ft at its center.

I think we should just do the $20 and drink/eat as much as you want.  We have a lot of beer/food.  We have 45 gallons of beer and about 40 quarts of chili.  If we do get 50 people, well, you do the math.  It's about a gallon of beer and a quart of chili per person.  We get 100 people and we still have way more than what we need.  I think we have plenty and should just let people do as they please.

And don't forget, although this is the U.S., people can only eat so much chili. They'll fill up on chili and not have room for more chili and/or more beer. I don't think we're at risk of anyone eating (or drinking) us out of house and home.

I think people understand that we can't charge for beer. That's why he was suggesting the $20 simply be an entrance fee, i.e. we're only charging for people to set foot on the premises of the brew house, everything else is essentially free.

I will be around Thursday afternoon/evening and Friday after 12 till evening to help with set up.

Daniel Barker said:

I have put a shit-load of information on this thread, it should be everything we need.  It tells you when to have your keg here (preferably the night before) and what the plans for build-out are.  Read the first post in this thread for what needs to be done on the days the brewhouse is closed.

Also, I just want to verify that there will be no alchemists volunteering for this event?  I haven't heard from a single apostle-level member about what they want to do/services they can offer.  If this is the case then I need to start reaching out to people I know personally instead of club members.  I feel like that shouldn't be necessary for one of our quarterly events.

For those of you that can't make it to the event, thanks for notifying me.

Doug's entry reads:  Venison Bacon Sage Chili, (Desc: Spicy, complex, bold, unique, unhealthy)

Jimbo's entry reads:  Jimbo's Nuclear Ass-ault (black, pinto, and gandule' beans. ground beef. tomato. jalepeno, cerrano and habenero peppers. tomato. onion. secret spices).  That Desc. can obviously be edited down.

Adam cancelled his chili.  He will be instead making three to four different desserts to sell.  These don't have to make it onto the menu.

Well, here's what everyone's

Well, here's what everyone's said all wrapped into one:

The plan as I understand it, we will be exchange money for 3 tickets (color to be determined).  The tickets will be good for three 5oz chili servings.  Each chili ticket will be collected and exchanged for a bowl.  At that time, guest will be given a cork "token" good for a complementary beer.  Cork token will be the only items accepted at the serving area. There will also be little taster cups available (if someone only wants a single sip/bite of chili); perhaps people can buy additional *chili* tickets.

But, yes, as it stands now: people can only have three 5 oz cups (no limit set yet on the the little tasters).

It's not the lack of

It's not the lack of investing; but, I'll save that for the "Stout Night debriefing meeting."

I think there's too much handling of stuff: two different things (tickets, corks) for food and beer; the food and beer themselves; the raffle tickets. Why make this convoluted and more difficult than it needs to be? If we want to have a head-count, take it at the door (whoever's working the door can have a tally going); if we want to limit consumption, let the servers handle that (give out 2 ounces instead of 5 of chili; 8 instead of 12 for beer). As long as we call the $20 a cover charge to enter the premises and beer and chili are free, there's no need to do all the ticket stuff at the food tables and keezer esp, since they're just plain ol' tickets (unlike Ides where they were nice and sharp and a "souvenir" type thing).

sure, corks sound good!

sure, corks sound good!  There should be enough, especially if we collect from the bartender and recycle back to the chili booth.

Thanks for all the specific volunteering, I need to know who I can count on and when.  This event doesn't have the buzz of ides because money isn't being invested in it like Ides.  That doesn't mean it can't be a successful money-maker.  There's been a decent amount of buzz about it at work so I'm expecting decent attendence at least.

Let's do the raffles for a brew day, for the dark lord, and for the keg.  I will donate a parabola for the winner of the chili competition.

It was originally supposed to

It was originally supposed to be something like "get three green tickets at the door; give a green ticket, get a bowl of chili and a yellow ticket; exchange the yellow ticket for a beer." It doesn't really sound like we're going to adhere to the ticket rule for drinks and food, though. Maybe we can just forgo the tickets for chili and beer and just use them for the raffle?

I can donate a 2009 Dark Lord

I can donate a 2009 Dark Lord (white wax).   What will we be using to raffle off tickets?  We have yellow and red tickets applied towards beer/chili.  I dont think we have another color for raffling...we'd have to buy another role - which can be done.  What about giving use to all those corks we have?  Maybe exchange chili ticket for a cork "token" for complimentary beer.

Sure, we can give some

Sure, we can give some options come brew-day, details we can work out later. It just sounds like an enticing prize for anyone (brewer level or non-chaos member alike) if we pitch it as "you pick the recipe, we pick up the tab, we teach you how to brew the all grain recipe yourself, hands-on."

I'm willing to throw some money at prizes like I did for Ides. If anyone can think of anything we can give away, I can buy beer or equipment. Maybe we can give away a subscription to a beer magazine or something...

yes, stress that CHAOS is picking up the tab.  I said the pale recipe because people can actually drink that over and over.  If they want to brew up a Belgian Rye IPA they might get sick of it.  Maybe not.  Hmmm... so I am totally going to brew up a Belgian Rye IPA soon.  Just inspired myself.  Maybe let them pick from a few recipes.  Simple stuff that doesn't have to age.  Most of my brews are done in less than 2 weeks.
