We need volunteers to help us mantiain and enhance the brewhose. This comittee will decided the priority of improvments, research materials and equiptment, and maintain the good working order of the brew house. We will meet on a monthly basis. Please reply to this thread if you would like to be on this comittee.
Thanks,

I'm definitely interested.

we need an issue tracker of some sort. maybe its a sticky at the top that becomes populated/edited by the moderator/chair? this way we can all see what needs to be done, who did it and when.

We can implement a brewhouse issue tracker similar to the web one as well. I know at one point we had a "CHAOS Project" page that was similar. Just a thought, we can make custom pages in whatever you need, we'll just have to fit it into the bigger website project plan.
Oh... my... god. Why haven't we done this? http://thechive.com/2013/09/17/guys-rig-up-buddies-plumbing-with-beer-wh...
It would be nice to have a public issue tracker that everyone can see and add issues to. That's a good idea. I think there should also be a Brewhouse Improvements list that shows what improvements we are working on and what stage/eta they are in. This should be separate from the issue tracker. We will probably make a google doc for now.
If you are looking for volunteers to help, count me in. Also, I recently got a portable air compressor with nail(finish), brad and staple guns you are welcome to use if it would be helpfuL for any of these projects.
i think issue tracker and projects can be on same list (for sake of keeping them together) and maybe they can be identified as each?
immediately, we have things like a gas leak to deal with (chuck has been notified), vs the project of the loft (which will have individual tasks within it), and a list of equipment issues (Jim's big pot has a slimey clog, just about every siphon is fucked)
but whatever works for the team, im game.

Rich, it would be great to have you on the brewhouse improvments comittee. We will probably meet once a month and everyone will be managing a small improvements project.
Kyle and I cleaned all the barrels when we first got them from GI.
There is an instruction packet in the office. That document shows the
proper chemicals to use and at what ratio.
the process is two fold, one for cleaning, one for storing. I don't
believe cleaning will be needed, if the holding solution is put in
directly after the barrel has been emptied.
It should be noted that any liquid put into the barrel will leech out
oak and barrel flavors...this includes holding solution and cleaner.
The best option, and what we are doing with the koval barrel, is to
have another project batch brewed and ready to go. When you dump the
barrel, you fill with new. No need for mixing solution and the barrel
resumes its life.
If the date you mentioned is still your bbl emptying date, there isn't
enough time to coordinate a refill. Batches should be majority
fermented before adding to the barrel. Too much yeast will create
autolyzed flavors with the long aging duration needed for barreling.
If you do push the date and coordinate another brew, keep in mind that
these are Heaven Hill barrels and are 53 gallons. That means you need
11 people doing 5 gallon batches, or some variation of that.
Dave, wrong thread
Sorry, I can't access site at work and can't login using my mobile
browser. My only connection is using the email reply feature.
Can someone, maybe lucas, move my convo to the correct thread? If not,
it will have to wait until late tonight, when I can log on at home.
