Why not just buy a club

Why not just buy a club oxygenation set-up and a few tanks?

Or if we swing the kit, we could set it up as bring your own tank. They're pretty small and only about $10 at home Depot.

We should get another cheap

We should get another cheap cordless drill no matter what we decide.

Edit: there is no feasible way the club is going to pay for O2 tanks for members. If we were to do something like this, it would have to be BYO O2.

It's possible to put O2 in the chiller as it is now, but I'm hesitant to do so. The chiller is still pretty complicated for most brewers and adding extra things to adjust/clean is maybe not the best idea. Either way, here it is

Midwest Supplies is having a

Midwest Supplies is having a 12% of sale for the next 72hrs if you guys are interested. I could order the Oxygenation Kit for the club if you wanted. Or maybe this is better saved for a conversation with those that make these decisions?

I like the oxygenation idea,

I like the oxygenation idea, however I do agree with Matt that it would have to be a BYOO2.  We still need a drill.  Cordless would be great as long as people remember to put it back on the charger.  It would suck to finish a brew day only to find out that the battery on the drill was dead.

EDIT:  Also I'm not convinced that the stone being attached to a metal tube is such a great idea.  I can foresee the tube getting bent and becoming non-functional

Also, if someone touches the

Also, if someone touches the stone, it'll no longer work properly. I don't think this is a good idea with the amount of people we have using the brew house.

I think a corded drill would

I think a corded drill would last a lot longer, and it's always ready to go without having to buy new batteries periodically.  The oxygen stones are nice, but aren't they pretty tempermental if you don't take really good care of them?  Maybe the stainless ones are more forgiving?

Matt, I really like the idea

Matt, I really like the idea of an in-line O2 attachement. We can put a valve where the O2 hose would be attached so brewers have the option to use it. If they're not comfortable using it yet they can just keep that valve closed & chill as they normally would.

While this does make an extra step to the cooling process, brewers would have the option to not even look twice at it if they had another preffered method of oxygenation.

I think an in-line method of oxygenation is next-level type 'ish & would help all of us make the good-to-great leap with our brews.

I'll stop by the hardware

I'll stop by the hardware store and get another drill.  The O2 wands are great, but I agree that its unlikely to withstand the rigor of our group using it. I bought one a few years ago, $60 well spent in my opinion.

The next step for the chiller

The next step for the chiller is to get the prechiller up and running, I think.  This needs to be done for the chiller to be effective this summer.

NFC can sell us O2 for $30

NFC can sell us O2 for $30 for a 125 cubic foot tank (larger than a 20lb C02) once we own the tank. Price of the tank is about $250.

There is no way we are having

There is no way we are having oxygen tanks at the brewhouse. I'm sure we can all imagine why. Other options include:

- Shake it

- Whip it with a drill

- Use your own O2 and diffuser

- Don't do anything

Wait - we can't just leave the big oxygen tank next to the propane tanks and the smoker? You guys never want to have any fun.

Huzzah, Brandon!

Huzzah, Brandon!

I'm at the Chicago Cup competition all day and evening Saturday, but could help you on Sunday after our barrel emptying-and-filling time.

Have you and Matt talked this through, he had some plans for it if I'm recalling correctly.

BTW, the drill is fixed. At least we'll have a backup now.

In Bill's defense, it was stuck open pretty good. I had to put on some grip gloves and yell like a barbarian to free the bit.
