CHAOS & Horse Thief Hollow's Club-Only Competition:  White IPA

Entry Form Here

Enter CHAOS’ Club-Only competition, sponsored by Horse Thief Hollow - the winning brewer will get to brew her/his beer with Head Brewer Dave Williams at Horse Thief Hollow!

A BJCP accredited competition, you’ll get high-quality feedback from BJCP judges.   This is a one-style competition, all the beers entered will be judged as White IPA, 21B in the 2015 BJCP Style Guidelines.  According to the guidelines, a White IPA is:

A fruity, spicy, refreshing version of an American IPA, but with a lighter color, less body, and featuring either the distinctive yeast and/or spice additions typical of a Belgian witbier.

IMPORTANT DATES:

Wednesday, June 21, 2017:  Entries due at the Brewhouse by midnight

Friday, June 23, 2017 6 pm - 8:00 pm:  Judging

Friday, June 23, 2017 8:00 pm:  Announcement of awards, sharing of entries, bottle share, food

TBD:  Tapping Party at Horse Thief Hollow

 RULES:

  1. Participation is limited to members of CHAOS

  2. All entries must be brewed and fermented at the CHAOS Brewhouse

  3. One entry per brewer

  4. Enter your beer here by June 21, 2017

  5. Submit two 12-ounce bottles of your beer, in brown bottles with no distinguishing markings, with your name on a piece of paper rubber-banded to each bottle by June 21, 2017

Entering competitions like this is a great way to get feedback on your beers - the entries will be made anonymous by the competition coordinators so the judges won’t know who brewed which beer and the feedback will be unbiased.

You can brew for this in pairs, with co-brewers, if you’d like.   With three months notice, you can start planning your brew now and reserve a brew time.  For more info on White IPAs, take a look at the style guidelines here and read this online article.

I'll search through the front

I'll search through the front fridge and find them, please label them with your name and that they are for the White IPA competition.  If I can't find someone's, I'll contact them directly.

Correct. Same plan as the

Correct. Same plan as the Gino's Brewing competition. Judging will begin at 6pm (translation:1800 hrs) on Friday and be concluded with the winner decided by 8pm (translation: 2000 hrs) at which point the winner will be announced by the bar.

When folks show up, keep to downstairs and stay relatively un-rambunctious, please. You'll have plenty of time to hoot and holla' anytime past 8.

Yeah we'll all hang out at

Yeah we'll all hang out at the bar and do a bottle share of each other's beers while they judge upstairs. Then they'll announce the winners and we'll all continue to bottle share/have good times. I was probably going to arrive around 7ish and enjoy some other members fine (definitely not first place) white IPAs.

Just echoing Jayson's

Just echoing Jayson's statement -

Yeah, feel free to come whenever, we just ask that you stay downstairs while we judge upstairs. That's pretty much it!
