WHY:                    The Samuel Adams Brewing the American Dream program is a micro-lending and coaching program for small food and beverage businesses. Created by Samuel Adams brewer and founder Jim Koch, it provides the two important things Jim couldn’t get when starting Sam Adams 31 years ago: access to financing and nuts-and-bolts business advice. The program is executed in partnership with Accion the nation’s leading nonprofit provider of small business capital and financial coaching. Since 2008, through Brewing the American Dream, Accion has lent more than $4.1 million to more than 475 food, beverage and craft brewing businesses nationwide. The program has also provided coaching to more than 5,000 small business owners, and helped create or retain more than 2,000 local jobs. Additionally, we have provided over 25 craft brewers nationwide with micro-loans.
