Splitting Specialty Grain Sacks in Bulk Buys

Hey!

I'm putting this extra post up to try and get people's attention.  It'd save a lot of money if anyone was interested in splitting the cost of some bulk sacks of specialty grains.  It's about time to start brewing up stouts if you want them to taste right in the winter, so I'm imagining a lot of people are going to be needing 3-5 different types of specialty grains (carapils, crystals, roasted, chocolate, black patent, etc...) for their brews.  Don't let brew n grow take you on those, as they can end up making your stouts super expense (I've made 25 gallons of stout recently and was not happy about all the costs).  These could be a lot cheaper if we get the sacks and split them in the group buys.  We can look at vacuum sealing these to keep them fresh for you if you aren't going to need them til down the line.  Just let us know.

I'm putting this post up primarily because I'm going to be likely focusing on sours and belgians in coming months and would really like access to Vienna and Munich malts for these.  Post up on Niilo's post if you're interested in getting any of these.  Or, if you want advertise here that you're interested and once you've got enough people for a whole sack, put a post in to Niilo on the official thread, that way we can keep that thread uncluttered.

I'm looking for someone to split Vienna or Munich, 3-way preferred, 2 if I half to.  Har har.

I've been messaging with a

I've been messaging with a guy on homebrewtalk that's interested in splitting the crystal 60, the carapils, and some munich with me.  If you all are still interested I'll give him the go-ahead.  I'll see if he wants rice-hulls.

Bill.  It's currently at the

Bill.  It's currently at the brewhouse and up for use for anyone I've met and feel comfortable won't bang up my expensive pot!  I'm going to try and do 10 gallons with it on our system and see how it works when I get back from vacation.

Also, I thought I'd let people know that on homebrewtalk some people are looking to split chocolate and rauch malt.  I'm going to let them know that we're trying to split rice hulls and crystal to see if I get any bites.  I'm going to buy in for a third of the Choc.

sry.  I'm out for the hulls.

sry.  I'm out for the hulls.  My megapot has never had a problem with stuck sparges/mashes, even with half wheat grists or 40 lbs of grain.

I'd do some rice hauls for

I'd do some rice hauls for sure...if we can find 3 more people (5 total) that would be 10# per person.

I'll buy in for the crystal

I'll buy in for the crystal 60 if we get at least 3 people.  For anyone interested, I think it'd be like 8.66 for a quarter sack and 11.55 for a 1/3 a sack.

I could go in on a sack of

I could go in on a sack of carapils if we can get a few other people involved (4 max to a bag). I'd also be interested in splitting some Crystal/caramel 60 or 120.

Buying a whole bag when I use only a few ounces doesn't make sense. But if people are willing to split a sack, I'd definitely be game.
