Water Leak

I am not good with plumbing but we seem to have a pretty bad water leak still back by the hot water heater. It has now rusted out the steel plate that the heater sits on. If anyone know anything about plumbing, would you be able to fix the connection that I took a picture of?

Is it just a question of

Is it just a question of cutting out a section and sweating some new pipe? I could do that, although I'd imagine there are plenty of others in the club that can as well?

We'd need to turn the water

We'd need to turn the water off for the repair (I'd imagine) so would be great to try to get it fixed this weekend while the BH is closed.

Sorry. I thought the picture

Sorry. I thought the picture posted. And not sure why all my photos come out turned on the side. It's just a little 4 inch section. I just don't know how to turn off the water coming out of the water heater. The pipe looks like it's a little bent or stressed.

That brass section. It's

That brass section. It's coming out from that black area and running down the pipe to the floor. When the hot water runs it comes out quite a bit.

I looked at this today. It's

I looked at this today. It's one cheap nock off fitting I bought at menards. I'll pick up a better fitting and replace this week.
