Saw that Binny's is hosting a beer social event at their Sout Loop tasting room. The tap list looks insane and it could be a good time. Details are below. Looks like you have to RSVP if you want to go. Respond below if your interested.
Have you moved onto kegging? Do you simply have a surplus of bottles? If you have bottles you're not using and you'd like to donate to CHAOS, please bring them by the brew house.
Need bottles?
We offer CHAOS members a deal on bottles, $0.25/bottle (Brew & Grow sells them for approx. $0.50/bottle and you pay sales tax there; bottles being sold on Craig's List go for about $0.40/bottle). All are rinsed; many are de-labeled. All proceeds go directly to the CHAOS Brew House.
The recipe isn't handy but basically I brewed a partial mash, hoppy amber ale this past summer. I got about 45 bottles out of the batch.
Bottling was particularly disastrous: the hops clogged the bottling wand as well as the bottling bucket so I threw the auto-siphon in there. I didn't have anything to put at the end of the hose so I just crimped it and held it to stop the flow. Not only was beer everywhere but there were a lot of bubbles and I had a lot of bottles with more or less headspace than others.
I've been to "first Thursday" before at Goose Island to hang with the Beer Advocate guys but thought they shut it down for some reason. I even remember calling Goose Island a couple of times and having people tell me they are no longer doing the event. Well, I was meeting a friend there last night (the first Thursday of the month) and there were a bunch of BA guys there hanging out in the side room! Long story short, the hostess told me they never cancelled the event.
we are looking to silk screen some more tshirts pretty soon, so that we can all reprazent. Steven Lane has made a screen (video can be seen here). the first batch of shirts went pretty quickly at the ides of cider fundraiser, its time to make more.
everyone who is interested, please bring a shirt of your choosing to have it screen printed in either white or black. solids, naturally, work best for the application, but feel free to bring what you wish.
