Wanted to post this up for anyone designing flyers for events that they plan on having me or anyone print.
When you open up your photoshop document make sure before you start designing that your document is sized to the dimensions you plan on printing at, and also at 300 DPI not the default 72 DPI which is for web only. Please also make sure you are in CMYK mode and not RGB. This will enable the final design to be printed at size without being extremely poor quality and blurry.
Just got the following from Groupon. Looks like Midwest Supplies has a coupon to get a starting equipment kit and extract recipe for $64+shipping. I forwarded the link to a few friends who have been holding out on starting, thought I'd share here as well.
I'm going to be on WGN news next Thursday! I'll be discussing St Patrick's Day beers, focusing on local Chicago options to enjoy. I'm so nervous, but really excited! Thanks to Chris for talking me into it!
Okay, here are the choices you can vote for based on the brainstorming: I will end the voting this Friday, March 9th at noon so make sure you get your vote in before the deadline. Whatever receives the most votes will be the beer that we fill the barrel with.
Hey guys..i was trying to think of a event that i could spearhead and this is what i came up with. I would like to host a can you brew it workshop. I think it would be fun for anyone interisted in locating flaws in their process. There are a bunch of recipes on the jamil show for beers we can get locally. I think this would be beneficial because we can compare each brewers version to the commercial example...and then have a discussion on why we did or did not come close to the real thing.
There are too many things going on in CHAOS now for everyone to keep up on, and find out about, them him/herself. A newsletter would allow members to keep up on stuff like improvements to the brew house, events (past and future), the barrel aging program, opportunities to play a bigger part in CHAOS, &c.
Are there any writers among us who would be willing to take on a monthly newsletter?
I'm in the process of building my kegerator and just received my 5lb CO2 tank in the mail today. It's empty, and I'm looking to get it filled (not traded in, if I can avoid it).
Where do you guys all go?
I called hardware stores, welding shops, etc.. and nobody was biting..
I know B&G does tank swaps, but I'd like to get a direct fill and hold onto my new tank if possible.
I acquired 2 bourbon barrels from Goose Island yesterday. For one of the barrels I decided to do a Club Vote on what should go inside the barrel.
The first step of this vote will be brainstorming, so throw any idea that comes to your mind. I will let the brainstorming go for 2-3 days.
I will then look at the ideas that seem to be the most popular and narrow it down to 3-5 choices. With these choices we can then vote on the beer that will go inside this barrel.
Once we come up with a beer we can then formulate a recipe.
