Can anyone help me keg a beer for the Oktoberfest party? I was originally planning on bottling my oktoberfest but have run out of time and need to keg it. Does the club or anyone have a free keg that I can utilize?
Heads up to you that store grain at the brewhouse, I had to toss 2 bins of my grain on Saturday due to a pantry moth infestation. I also noticed a bunch of em on our fly paper.
If you store in air tight containers, you are probably fine, but if you store in an average storage bin like mine you are probably infested.
We have some mash tun and pot maintnence I'd like to get done before the party - cleaning of the pots and an overhall of the mash tuns. It would be a great oppertunity for some members to see how these things are put together and help CHAOS at the same time. All supplies provided by the club.
In my experience this is typically a well run event with lots of cool beer and some local bands. Definitely worth the $10 entry, in any case. Based on past events I've gone to they normally will tap some whacky bourbon country varietals. I think last year they had tapped the special variants for 2015.
I'll be hanging out here if anyone is game to join me.
Not good. Sean and I were there and it was just a mess. Stuff scattered everywhere, stuff not put away, stuff not thrown away. Any stuff you can imagine, it was probably left out and about - glasses, kegging stuff, dirty buckets, a keg cleaner not emptied, six-pack plastic do-dads, tools, empty and near empty bottles, the little plastic caps for the kegerator were on the floor and a table, etc etc. I decided not to pick up after someone else this time.
Brock came up with the great idea of offering pre-orders for CHAOS members who want to reserve one of the mugs that Jim C., Reed and the rest of the Oktoberfest planning committee came up with. These mugs will be on sale at the event so you can buy them there, but if you're worried that they might sell-out and really want one, you can pre-order by posting on this thread. The cost will likely be around $8 (I'll edit this post once Jim C and the planning committee make a final decision on that).
In the interest of keeping the main planning thread cleaner: Sadly, we were unable to acquire the services of Polkaholics, and It was harder than I expected to find a punk-polka band...weird. So the plan for music is to create a Spotify playlist, which I'm working on, and let that shuffle. The purpose of this thread is for suggestions, definitely gonna have some Oom-Pah and some polkas and good old traditional stein swinging tunes, as well as things like Hasselhof, Skorpions, Rammstein, Kraftwerk, and the suggestions in the other thread, any others?
