Hi Lindsey Stocks is organizing a release party for Fool's Folly, a collaboration beer between Around the Bend and Illuminated Brewing. Its at Monk's Pub (205 W. Lake) on Wednesday March 2nd, 5-7 pm. Nancy and I will be there, with a couple of other friends. Come join us and we can have a spontaneous CHAOS meeting . . . .
So the AUX cord (RCAs to headphone jack) has finally kicked the bucket (the end of the headphone jack broke off). I spliced the ends of the cord and made it into a FM antenna (try not to giggle it, the input for the antenna on the stero isn't secure).
Just wanted to give whoever is coming in next a heads up about a lack of tunes. And for what it's worth 97.9 has been pretty good today (classic rock).
On Tuesday, April 26th, Bryan Shimkos, the brewer and owner at Blue Island Beer Co., will host CHAOSers at the brewery and visit with us about brewing session beers. He'll share some of his small beers, discuss the recipes, process and his thinking about brewing these beers.
Quick question: what's the thought on serving a ludicrisly high alcohol cider at the next party?
It never got cold enough to make true applejack... so I'm left with 4 gallons of "cider" that was once 7 gallons of 10-12% alcohol cider... So it's now somewhere between 18-24%?
It tastes pretty good, and I haven't back sweetened it yet. I don't want to put it in my keezer, so I thought a party would be a great way to deal with it...
Hi, I was talking with Josh at the club yesterday: I was asking about a 5 gallon barrel that is in the club right now. Does the owner of that have any plans for it currently?
I know it had sour in it, but if it's not in use I'd love to steam clean/steralize that thing and put some beer in there... Let me know!
Hi, would anyone be interested in participating in a workshop on brewing session beers? I have both a professional brewer and an award-winning homebrewer in mind for helping to lead this workshop, which we could hold either at the CHAOS brewhouse or at the professional brewer's brewery. Before I contacted them, though, I wanted to do an informal check on how much interest there might be in this.
If there's enough interest, I'll contact the possible leaders and work on finding a date, which would be April at the earliest.
Would anyone like to cask condition their beer for the Mash Tun event? I'd be delighted to lend it out. I'm doing a summery sessionable wheat ale, which I could do in the cask, but not sure that it would add much. If I did, maybe I'd throw some spices in the cask - like coriander and seeds of paradise. But if someone else would like to use it, let me know.
