So we received this request - it sounds like a great oppertunity to take our beer education mission to non-members. Maybe start at the brewhouse for a quick 30 min tour and education, followed by a real brewery or two ending in some place like blue frog? I'd be more than happy to co-coordinate, but I'd like to see 3-5 people total so we have a ratio of 1:10.
I have been sitting on 10gal or 120lbs of honey. Several years ago I made a burnt mead (bochet). I stumbled upon it during a youtube video. Regretfully I only made a small batch of it because it is delicious.
I would offer to do it at the club but I would like to stay true to the bon-fire cooking in my big cast iron kettle.
I am thinking about throwing some burgers on and cracking open a few beers Saturday Nov 22 or the sun after FOBAB.
Let me know if interested. I live about 1 hour from downtown straight south in beecher, il.
My skills and interests don't generally lie in the DIY, engineering, and tinkering with equipment area. That being said, I can (and have) put together mash tuns, which seems like a possible need for the club given the shortage of working mash tuns on Saturday (it was an exceptionally busy day at the brewhouse, for sure).
I reserved a brew bay on Saturday 11/22, so far no one else is signed up on that day. I'll hoping someone else may be planning to be there, to give me access and supervise my second brew day there. I put the starting time as 10 am, but I can be flexible that day. Thanks,
Does anyone have access to miter (chop) saw in the city that would be willing to help me out? I'm building out a keezer collar and plan to do miter joints on the outer portion. I've tried to do that enough times with a handheld saw to know how much of a pain in the ass it is to get clean angles.
I had signed up to brew a yeast lab school for the harvest party, but due to circumstances beyond my control, I wasn't able to make it and have it served two weeks ago.
My yeast lab, using the Westmalle yeast strain, it now on tap at the club keezer. Should be the second tap from the left.
Sorry for missing the deadline. Please feel free to help yourself.
Hi everyone. I brewed Wednesday night and Nancy brought it to my attention that the handle was broken off the wort chiller. I was able to get it turned on, but it stayed on. So it worked perfectly fine for me on Wednesday, but I was only able to turn it off by unplugging the motor. Nancy asked me to put a note on it, but I forgot, so I figured I'd give everyone a heads up about the situation this morning. Thanks!
This morning I stopped by the brewhouse to check up on a few things and found the front door unlocked and all the lights on.
This is unacceptable!
Y'all may not know this, but there is a major drug market south of us on Madison and that Metra stop brings in junkies from the N.W. burbs. Also, there is a metal recycling place near by as well.
Our electric bill is high enough as it is, we really don't need any help on making it higher by leaving every light on in the place when it's not being used!
I still have not found my regulator or my CO2 tank yet from Harvestfest. I am going to swing by again today to look again. However, if I can't find them, I woudl like to ask if someone could let me borrow their regulator/CO2 tank for a party this Saturday. If so, please email me to see if we can figure some sort of arrangement.
