On December 4th, in the west loop, I'm helping run a popup gallery that will be displaying relics from the long closed Holography Museum. For those that are unfamilur, the Museum of Holography had one of the best collections of holograms in the world. There is a large story behind it and if you are inclined to read it, it is below. It is a sad tale that needs a happy ending.
Hi Chaos! I read an article a couple months ago that led me to this free sheet created to help brewers on brew day. It's a very comprehensive piece of paper that will keep your methods/ingredients/adjustments in one place on the most hectic of brew days. Enjoy and I hope you all have a great Thanksgiving!
Just as an FYI, please do not unplug the heater or AC from the outlet at the south (rear) end of the ferm room underneath the AC, or plug anything else into those outlets (the AC is currently unplugged because the heating and cooling circuits were switched; I will try and fix this the next time I'm at the brewhouse). Those are the temperature-switched outlets that maintain the ferm room temperature at a nice comfy 65*F. There are numerous regular, non-switched outlets on the east and west walls of the ferm room for plugging in stir plates/brew belts, etc.
I'm plugging my recipe for my brew this weekend into Beersmith, and I can't remember whether the MLT and boil kettle on the tower of power are 15 gallons or 20.
RX contacted me to see if CHAOS would like to sample some beers at their annual holiday bazaar on December 12th. They are saying they will have a minimum of 150 people, but we will just serve as much beer as we want, we don't have to server everyone. This event gets us some facetime with local "craft-centric" people. There is no cost to attend.
Just kinda thinking out loud here...what if for our Christmas party we set an entry fee of like at least 1 unwrapped toy, maybe a kids coat, or some canned goods for a local food bank. Maybe someone has church they go to that has one of those angel trees where you pick a name and get that kids Christmas list. I just think that as a group we're pretty awesome, and we could easily make some peoples holiday season a lot better with very little effort or sacrifice.
Due to all the big beers we are brewing for barrels and stout night, we have had a lot of blow offs! We need to do a major cleaning of the ferm room!
I need someone to head up an organize a clean up party this week.
We also need volunteers to help clean up.
This needs to be done before Saturday, cause we have a tour group coming thru that day.
Thanks.
Jeff just texted me, and my stout has apparently had a massive party and is making a mess of the ferm room. I won't be able to get to it until late tonight as I'm in the suburbs today. If anyone that is brewing today or by the brew house would be inclined to help me out before it becomes a bigger problem I'd graciously buy you a beer.
Otherwise I won't make it till 8 or so tonight. Sorry I can't get there earlier, and for the mess...
