Was just at Northdown with some friends and decided to chit chat with the owner/manager to try to score a CHAOS discount... This place is legit. I can't say enough good things about them.
Tom, the manager/owner, is most recently from Map Room where he, as he puts it, learned all his beer knowledge. Furthermore, he sat down with us, offered us free beers, and chatted with us about craft beer, &c.
According to our server, they intentionally mark UP the Miller Lite to $5 so that people are enticed to go $1 more for the very good selection of $6 craft beer instead.
We are looking for a motor to power the grain mill. I have been trying to figure out what we need but it is a very confusing process. My understanding is that we need a motor that produces over 60lb*in @ 100rmp. Most motors seem to be a much higher RPM (+1000), but we are going to get a better crush at a lower RPM.
Can someone help us out?
Also, we are trying to avoid a pulley system as it is more susceptible to breaking and increase the possibility of people getting hurt.
I'd like to organize a "Show and Tell". It would work like this. (I'm just figuring out some of the details as I go along, so anyone can certainly suggest improvements to this idea.)
First, each Show and Tell participant would brew a beer, cider or mead etc. that we'd like to share with each other.
I'm finishing up moving apartments and don't have space for the large amounts of homebrew I've been amassing over the past year. I'd be willing to donate it for brewclub consumption if someone wanted to give it a ride there. I'm leaving to go out of town tomorrow early morning so it'd have to be today some time. Hit me up! The apartment is in wicker park.
Just wanted to give everyone out there in CHAOS a reminder to always lift with their legs..
Last night I lazily tried to pick up my full 6.5 G carboy and didn't properly lift this heavy ass piece of shit object with my legs. Next thing I know, a sharp pain is jabbing into my lower back like I just got stabbed or something, rendering me incapacitated. Luckily I mustered enough strength to gentily and safely put the carboy back onto the ground without creating a separate glass-related injury.
Just wanted to thank everyone that came out for the labeling adventure! I know quite a few of you have a new appreciation for the process and it was awesome to see so many get involved. I especially loved the payoff when the first labels turned out awesome on the bottles.
Thanks again, and I'll be putting together some additional Chaos bottles for those that couldn't leave with one. Also as mentioned I'll see if we can't do a quarterly bottling/labeling event now that some of you know what the crazy process :)
I was at the open house, and am definitely interested in becoming a brewing member. A friend and I are planning on working together. I was wondering if we both need to join individually or if we should have some sort of joint membership? Thanks for the help.
Tomorrow, Tues, I'll be up within a few miles of the WI border for work. I planned a few extra hours for a quick lunch and beer shopping excursion. I'll be west of 94 about 20 miles but will be heading back to 94 to get home.
Does anyone have any good liquor store suggestions?
Does anyone want me to pick up something for them? I could be at the brewhouse on Tues after work from 5:30-6:30 for you to pick up or you could stop by my place.
