Hoptacular Organization Thread

Forums:

This is a thread for organizing how we're going to handle the hoptacular event.  We should have a meeting to discuss the different recipes people have come up with and to decide whether or not we are going to do test batches.  Just some fair warning, if we are going to do that, we have to do it in the next few days for the true batch to be ready.  That means a meeting needs to happen tomorrow or the day after at the latest and that the brewing of the test batches should happen in the next three days.

New Brewhaus Cleanout Thread, (for planning times to clean).

If you're interested in devoting time to cleaning out the new space, please let me know your availability.  Also let me know if you've offered to volunteer some of your schedule so I don't cross any two meetings that a given person would want to go to both of.

We have permission from the landlord to clean this place up prior to paying rent for November 1st.  This is a golden opportunity to have the space open and ready.  Otherwise we'll be wasting our rent money for November 1st.

Cider

Forums:

So, does anyone have a good cider recipe for me?  I'd like to brew a batch for the bluegrass festival.

I brewed up a pumpkin ale for the event last week, and it took FOREVER.  The pumpkin clogged up my MLT and slowed the lauter to a trickle.  It took about 2.5 hours to get 6.5 gallons of wort.

CHAOS Brewhouse Library

We've started a beer library in the brewhouse.  There's some stuff in the file cabinet next to the fridge.  Palmer, Daniels, and (when I get back) papazian.  When Iggi finishes it, Brew Like a Monk will also be available and Wild Brewing when I finish reading it.  I'm going to put up a list of the books and a sign up sheet.  I want to make sure Palmer and Daniels stay in the brewhouse as reference books since I need them occasionally and others might want them (if anyone would like to donate extras as loan or house copies, we can do both).  Anything else will be up for loan.

If you have an idea for event types or venues, please respond below. We are setting up monthly happy hours (hope to see you all on Sept 20th!) at a different establishment each month. Do you have a favorite neighborhood haunt that has an awesome beer list, or connections at a local watering hole? Let me know!

Also, there has been some talk about setting up a beer tasting, is there an interest in setting up a tasting event? Or, more importantly, is anyone interested in hosting?

I am looking forward to hearing from you! Cheers!
