In case you need another reason to join the American Homebrewers Association, they just announced a new discount agreement with Pilot Project to give AHA members 10% off. You can see all the other member deals here
I brought a vacuum sealer to the brewhouse for members to use. If you open a package of hops and want to reseal them, it works for that. Or you can buy hops in bulk and then divide them up.
The unit is in the upstairs kitchen, to the left of the sink and by the microwave. It is plugged in and ready to go. I bought a large quantity of bags and they are behind the unit. Feel free to use them - if you use a lot and feel like reimbursing me, you can, but for a few bags, don't worry about it.
The deadline for submitting beers to the Halloween Party is Wednesday the 16th. If you still need to brew, that's ok! Just put down as much information as you can on the signup sheet so that Steven can make a sick menu and blast it out to all our adoring fans. The earlier we get the menu finalized the more time we have to promote our badass beers!
The signup document for the Halloween Party is now live!!! As always, we'll need as many volunteers to staff the party as possible, and of course we'll need as many beers as you can provide.
Hi All - I had my CHAOS-cleaning-moment-of-the-day a few minutes ago. Grabbed Brew Bay #3's mash paddle and it was sticky and discolored from the dried on wort that didn't get cleaned off of it the last time it was used. I know its easy to just rinse something like that off when you use it, and I have done that, but this was a reminder to me of the need to actually clean equipment, with pbw and a sponge or scrubby after we use it. I've got that mash paddle soaking in pbw now, not a big deal, but a good reminder that this is a shared 'makers' space and we need to be thoughtful about clean
Steven Lane and I are hosting this year's Halloween Party, and there's a lot to get done in not that much time! One big thing to sort out is what we will do for the party keezer. For those of you that have never been to a CHAOS party before, every party we try to turn the keezer into a themed educational experience for our partygoers. It doesn't have to be boring, just six beers that, taken as a whole, teach people (and our brewers) about one aspect of brewing or recipes or ingredients.
There is a 15 gallon Far North barrel by the garage door that is available to be used for a planter, end table, or bonfire material. Take it, or tell me you want it, before it gets tossed.
