All,
We have been invited back to Empirical Brewery's Homebrew Thunderdome event again this year on Saturday May 18th from 1-5:00 PM. It's a homebrew competition amongst local homebrew clubs and homebrewers that we won last year.
I would love to attend and run this event as it sounds like a blast, but I will be at Dark Lord Day. Looking for some members who are interested in showing up and representing CHAOS at this awesome event. We'll also need beers, which I can help with. Need to find a few folks who can go and pour first though.
I disconnected the oven gas line after detecting a leak - or really an improperly performing burner knob. I smelled gas at the stove despite all knobs being in the off position. To be safe I brought a lighter over a tested each burner and the right-rear burner lit up. After playing with it for a bit determined it can’t be trusted - it doesn’t naturally find a gas-off slot in the the knob “off” position.
So gas is shut off until someone who knows how to fix it shows up.
Want to do a supervised brew this weekend (4/20 or 4/21). Is there anyone scheduled to brew this weekend who can also supervise me? I have already got one supervised brew, this is going to be my second one.
Congratulations to Ben Resch on becoming CHAOS' newest BJCP credentialed judge! Ben will be a Certified-rank judge as soon as he accumulates five experience points, based on his excellent exam score.

Hey All,
When I'm not brewing beer or making recipes, I like playing board games. I threw out the idea of doing a game night and bottle share and some people seemed interested. I have an extensive collection and can pick and provide the games based on how many people want to attend. Logistically, I was thinking the upstairs area of the brewhouse would be best for this, but open to ideas.
Who would be available/ interested in getting together 4/18 for this?
Our local competition schedule will be light until October. There are a lot of Midwest and National events that usually fill in this gap until we get to Oct. If there's interest I'd be happy to do a pack and ship clinic for brewers. I average 15-17 comptitions a year. At least 10-12 will require shipping. In 4 years and over 600 bottles shipped, I've only had 5 broken bottles. Learn from my mistakes!
The following are specs and downloadable files for ordering patches for CHAOS work shirts.
The patches have a black base with white stiching. We have two fonts people can select for name tags (image below):
- Lobster for a retro look
- Cantebury for a gothic/rocker look
