Hi, I've got room for one more brewer in a barrel project. Its a Koval 30 gallon gin barrel, we've aged a Biere de Garde in it (which turned out unique and delicious, I think) and we have a big Saison in it now. We're going to empty the barrel and refill, sometime towards the end of November - the next beer going in will be a Belgian Dark Strong (or a Quad as the hip kids call it). Big, dark, redolent of dark cherries and plums.
Would anyone want to team up to brew a beer for the tropical stout collab? I have a recipe in mind but it would be nice to get another person's input and also to help split costs. We have enough time to get the beer done by the deadline, but probably only if we keg it.
The third of four monthly beer style and evaluation workshops is scheduled, for Nov 7th and 13th, at 7 pm. While these are designed for people preparing for the BJCP exam, they are open to everyone - just RSVP, please.
Just a quick reminder that the deadline to register online for the Club Only Tropical Stout competition is fast approaching - November 1st. You don't have to submit your beer until later, November 27th, but you need to register for the competition in the next two weeks.
Hi, I'm administering a BJCP tasting exam in January and am starting to plan for and collect the six beers we will be tasting and evaluating. Basically, I need a couple of beers with serious flaws, a couple of middling beers, and a couple of excellent beers - across a diversity of styles. We would need 8 - 10 bottles or 1.5 growlers of each sample.

Hey, is anyone interested in doing a bike/run/drive to Chaos Breweries on November 3rd? I was thinking of starting at Goose Island Fulton at 12, head over to marz at 1 (30 min bike ride), leave marz at 3 to horse theft hollow (1 hour bike ride), leave horse thief at 5:30 to go to Vice home (1 hour bike ride) and from there we can take MI metra home. I was also thinking of skiping of Goose Island and meeting at the brew house instead for time sake.
