This Sunday is the Tacotlan anniversay party that a few of us brewed for to pair with a couple of their dishes. I'm super pumped for this, but unfortunately my sister decided to have her engagement party in Columbus this weekend and I can no longer attend. Looking for someone who can help Jeff pour and who can be there til 6. Jeff has to leave at 2:30. Bonus if somone has a car and can transport the kegs and jockey box there. If not, I can drop off Thursday night before I leave town. PLEASE let me know ASAP if you can help a brotha out.
The main thermometer is out, displaying crazy numbers or error message. There’s a simple one on station 3 that I tested off of the fridge and fermenter room that seems accurate, so that should work for now.
CHAOS is hosting a CHIditarod party on Sat Mar 23, 2-8pm, and I'm hoping to fill the keezer with kegs of beer to share with everyone (bottle donations work too).
CHIditarod is a costumed shopping cart race based on the Alaskan Iditarod, and the event collects food and raises money to help fight hunger in Chicago. The race is Sat Mar 2. We are hosting a post-race event for award winning teams and volunteers.
We need a co-host. I will volunteered myself 50% but asking for another half. Please see if you are available and able to commit. We need a host for this party to happen. It’s super easy, they have the blueprints, we just need to execute. Who is in? Bill George
Enter the 28th Annual Charlie Orr Memorial Chicago Cup Challenge, the oldest competition in the Chicago area. In addition to individual medals, the homebrew club with the most points wins the Chicago Cup.
If you are interested in volunteering as a steward or apprentice judge, let me know. Its a great way to see how a competition works, from the inside.
Hi all, I was hoping to come in and do my 2nd brew on Wednesday, and am in need of an experienced brewer to help guide me and sign off. I've done a few brews before and know my way around the equipment, but it's been some time since I've been in the facility (regrettably), and I'm planning on brewing a lager, which I've never done before, so I would greatly appreciate any guidance.
I reserved a spot from 3pm to 10pm, I'm free all day though so I am flexible. If this Wednesday doesn't work for anyone I could do next Wednesday as well.
There is an excellent discussion going on in the homebrewtalk brewing science forum on mash pH, specifically on changes in pH over time in the mash - in practical terms, when can you measure the pH and be assured its no longer changing.
Come on out for the tapping of Jon Phillips' gold-medal winning Tropical Stout, CHAOS Theory, at Lo Rez Brewing! After winning the CHAOS/Lo Rez Tropical Stout Competition, Jon brewed his winning beer with Lo Rez's brewer, Kevin Lilly, on their system, and it will be served in the Lo Rez taproom.
Thurday, January 31st, tapping at 6 pm. Lo Rez Brewing is at 21st and Carpenter. Street parking is available and the taproom is only a block walk from the Carpenter stop on the Cermak bus, which connects to the Red Line.
