Just got an email back from Revolution. Josh is willing to donate 4 Barrels free of charge, all we have to do is get in touch with them to arrange a pickup time.
Matt Omura and I have taken it upon ourselves to take ownership of the chiller problem and formulate and execute a plan of some sort very soon. I thought it'd be a good idea to be democratic about it and publicly source ideas and see what our resources are and people's opinion's on things. The problem with the chiller is quite simply that it's setup now forces us to move and lift large quantities of boiling liquids and it's really an accident waiting to happen, and I refuse to see one of our brothers or sisters potentially maimed from burn scars from something preventable.
I had to move a bunch of my grain and equipment home during the move since I wasn't available on the official move date. Is there anyone that could give me and my grain a ride? I would also be willing to return my 15 gallon brew kettle if people want it for use at the brewhouse. I'd like brew some last minute beers for the Halloween party but would rather get a ride for my big sack of grain rather than break it up over several trips.
I was at the Brewhouse last night and I noticed that the fridge and lager fridge were both not running. The yellow extension cord had been moved and plugged into the socket by the fridge, instead of the outlet on the otherside of the wall. Please do not move that extension cord as the light switch controls that outlet (next to the fridge) and the lager fridge went up to 60 degrees. I put the cord back to where it was originally, but just wanted to let everyone know. I'm sure we'll have a better solution in the future, but for now lets make sure that plug stays run across the floor.
Brewing something Saturday....trying to figure out what. I know I'm gonna do a Single Malt Single Hop brew. I know I want to use Munich Malt. I was gonna go a logical route with with Magnum but Brew and Grow has some Pacific Jade hops, they sound interesting...maybe Thames valley ale yeast, ESB, or Munich Lager or Octoberfest lager yeast. I don't know...any ideas? All opinions welcome. Is there room in the lager fridges? Can I do a lager without a starter?
I just signed up today for an apprentice level membership. I did a brewing 101 back in the spring but then switched jobs and my life got crazy. Anyway, I'd like to get myself started again. I'm looking for someone who would be willing to show me the ropes in the new brewhouse and supervise my brew. PM me, I will work around your schedule.
Could whoever is in charge of membership lists/billing either e-mail me (christopher.poisson@gmail.com) or give me a call (630/750-3076). My renewel date is coming up in the next few weeks and I remember we switched payment systems way back when...and...as usual...I acted like a horse's patoot and blew off whatever I needed to do. I just want to know where to go, what to do, how much to type in, etc. I'd prefer to talk details off the public message boards.
