There have been numerous instances of people arriving to brew at a very digusting brew house. As the club starts to grow, we'll probably have an even harder time keeping the place clean. Please be sure to clean-up after brewing or even if you are just hanging out. Should anyone come in to find their brew bay in poor condition, please feel frew to shoot me a private message.
As some of you know many of our members are taking the BJCP exam this January. For the exam they are required to judge actual homebrew. I need 6 different beers for the exam, and 14 bottles of each. If you are willing to donate your beer to the exam you will get back scoresheets from one master judge and two national judges. This will be the highest quality and most extensive feed back you can recieve on a beer.
Anyone going to be brewing Sunday morning (10/27)? Hoping to get my third intro session in. I can be fairly flexible in terms of start time. If you are going to be available send me a note. Thanks, Jeff
Pipe works is advertising a ton of free bomber bottles that have never been filled or used. They are labeled but clean! Anyone with a car want to get a ton for the club? We could say good bye to saving back gunky bottles for a long time!
Hey I left a box with 4 or so packs o hops, 2 packs of us05 yeast and two bags of specialty grains here early last week. Did anyone are them when tidying up the place? (Looks great here btw!)
Edit: never mind found them! Brewing tonight if anyone wants to stop by and party
It's 2am and I just got home from our first official event in the new space and I couldn't be happier. We hosted 30 people for a 4 hour lab event at Chicago Ideas Week. The response was phenominal, and all the help received today was above and beyond expectations. The brewhouse looked put together today, we had a two reporteres there, one from the Tribune, and one from CIW that will be writing articles on us.
A big thank you for Ale Syndicate, ALEMAN, MakeItFor.Us, and Capone's Liquors for all their contributions from beer, to speaking, to the opportunity for the lab.
Hey everyone, I was halfway through my mill when the mill stopped working. Sorry everyone. I wish I knew how to fix small engines, but I don't. I've already contacted the mad scientist Lucas personally and am waiting to hear what he thinks. This is just a heads up to people looking to brew this weekend or later this week. You'll want to consider milling before coming.
