Come celebrate 5 years of magnificent beers today. Don't miss a sip, we're tappin' all 13 kegs at 4:00 PM.
We'll tap five variants of Bourbon County beers at 4pm on Thursday, March 1st. Not just that, but we have varying years of each varietal for a total of 13 beers to enjoy. They're rare and coveted, so we expect them to go quickly.
Is anyone interested in making food for the bottle share next friday? If so, please add your name and what you are bringing so we have an idea of what need to get. Thanks.
Brewing Classic Styles was missing last night when we went to look for it for the class. If you borrowed it, it would be great to return it. If you see it somewhere at the brewhouse, would you please put it with the rest of the library upstairs?
Silly Goose is back! Come to the Goose Island Taproom for an evening of laughter and beers. Once again, we will be highlighting comedians from the Chicagoland area and offering $3 Old Man Grumpy Pints. This is event is free to attend and will start at 7pm sharp. Seats are limited so arrive early!
Traffic and discussions on the CHAOS forums have gone down noticeably since we began also using Slack. Slack is nice for its immediateness, its basically like a chat app, but its not great for discussions that require nuance or a little bit of detail - in that way, its like Twitter, I guess. It (or at least the way we're using it) doesn't track topics over time - what was said earlier gets lost in the flood of chats about this whale or that prison hootch. On the other hand, its great for immediacy and off-the-cuff stuff.
So I’m strongly considering constructing my own pizza oven for my backyard this spring. We make pizza weekly in my house except in summer when 600F oven temps don’t fly. So figured take it outside. But grilled pizza kinda sucks and $3k fancy pizza oven kits are over budget. However, I think I can do a DYI one pretty cheap <$500.
Hi. I need to get inside the clubhouse on (or around) 3/1 after about 6 pm in order to dry-hop. Also I was hoping to bottle my first batch on Sunday 3/4 (pretty much any time). Is there anyone that might be there on either of these dates to let me inside the building? I appreciate it.
I came into the brewhouse this morning and there was StarSan or something similar in a bucket in the sink. The chiller was still assembled with feed and drain hoses still attached . Thank you Steven Lane for disassembling that.
When you walking into a dirty brewhouse you tend to not trust anything at that point. So I washed down all the counters, sink and floors. I washed the Floors 2x actually with water, push broom and the squeegee.
I've got a 30 gallon Koval barrel that is getting emptied soon and I would like to solicit any new members and any members that have not done a barrel project to jump in and get your wood on!
Style/recipe TBD. Brew date is flexible, but likely with in the next 30 days. I'm sending a PM to newbies as well. First people to message me get in!
IN an attempt to start fresh with Homebrew orders. Omega Yeast is throwing out all existing packs of homebrew. I will bring all the statins to the club tonight after work. They are free to all take what you’d like but note some maybe old(er than others) they range in 1 month old to 2 weeks. Happy brewing.
