We held our Off-Flavors in Beer Workshop last Tuesday night. I did a brief write up with photos and a link to the materials on my blog We had 18 attendees and 8 CHAOSers (Jon Phillips, Brandon Kessler, Americo Ochoa, Patty McGuire, Melissa Hiller, Ben Resch, Hugh Vondracek and Dave Williams). The blog post is copied below:
I've agreed to be the judging director at the 2018 Chicago Cup competition, held on March 24th. The website isn't up yet, but I wanted to give CHAOSites an early heads-up. I would love it if CHAOS took some medals this year - maybe more than some! The Chicago Cup is an actual competition between clubs - the club that accumulates the most points wins that year's Chicago Cup. Even if we didn't win the Cup, to have an impressive showing would be very cool. I'd love to be announcing CHAOS winners during the awards dinner!
We have lots of flies and frunit flies in the BH. I see that there's a buglight but it looks like we're maxed out on available utlets. Do we just need a 2-1 plug adaptor to get that back on line?
Hi All, I just purchased my membership and need someone to supervise (and be a mentor for...) my first brew at Chaos. If we have't met already, I have brewed at home several times. Sunday, November 5 is the next time I'm free on a weekend, and Mondays are also convient for me.
CHAOS' barrel projects rule! Yesterady, two CHAOS barrel project beers (imperial stout and barleywine) took first and second place at the 2017 Brixtoberfest competition! Congratulations to Kyle Nordquist, Jayson Gowdy, Brandon Kessler, Patty Cook McGuire and Hugh Vondracek!
The organizaters for Saturday's Brixtoberfest just put out a call for more stewards. They'd like five more. Its a good competition, good experience. Please contact Dave Fetty directly at brixtoberfestjudging@gmail.com
