CHAOS & Lo-Rez Competition: Tropical Stout

Just in time for winter, CHAOS is holding its Sixth Club-Only Competition featuring the big, dark and sweet Tropical Stout!  Sponsored by Lo-Rez Brewing, the gold-medal winning brewer will have the opportunity to brew their beer at Lo-Rez and have it served at their taproom.

Hey all - Hailstorm tapped our GABF Pro-Am beer (a super sessionable dank APA) this past Friday and not to pat myself on the shoulder, but I think it turned out really well. 

Jim V. and myself (along with some other friends and family) are heading down to Hailstorm next Sunday, 8/26 around 2pm to sample it some more so everyone else should come too (while there you can probably drink a Vlad release and the 2017 GABF Gold medal winning IPA, Prarie Madness as well!). 

Hoptacular 2018

Hoptacular will take place on Saturday, September 22nd. Anyone interested in brewing for it this year? This should be a club effort, so pleae feel free to collaborate with other members while coming up with a recipe and brewing the beer.

Blue Ribbon Brew Competition: Manitowoc Wisc. Aug 21-26

Hi guys this is a tight turn around.  Maybe you have something that's peaking right now?

Beers are due at Northern Brewer MKE Wisc. 8/11.  

Entries are capped at 100.  Right now they are at 52.

I'm planning on driving up my entries if anyone wants to register and mule with me.

Light Vs. Dark Side Beer Fest

Empirical is planning to hold another homebrew club fest at their tap room in November and have asked us to join them. Here are the details they sent:

WHEN: November 17th, 1-5pm

WHERE: Empirical Brewery

WHO: The 9 clubs we had at Thunderdome, two more clubs if possible and an independent group

WHAT: Beer Fest and Best of Show competition / Star Wars Party / Costume Contest

Clubs are allowed to bring as many light and dark beers as you want, but please bring an even number of light and dark beers. This makes the competition more fun.

Ravenswood On Tap Volunteer Openings

I received an email from the event coordinator for Ravenswood On Tap, which takes place on June 23 and 24. If you'd like to help out please see below.

 

Thanks for your interest in helping out at On Tap! We had a rush on beer pouring sign ups and thankfully have all those slots filled. We still need help in two areas: collecting gate donations, and assisting our Keg Crew, which basically means using hand-trucks to deliver kegs to our brewer’s tents (aka the life-blood of the fest)!

 

free ticket - Craft Beer at LP Zoo - Saturday

I've got an extra ticket for the Saturday session of the Craft Beer Festival at Lincoln Park.

That's this saturday: 6/16 from 6-10:30 

The catch is you have to come bro-down* with me @the fest

*'bro-down' is gender neutral, and will consist of drinking local-ish craft-ish (almost certianly not rare) beers and looking at zoo animals, most likely while immitaing voices for them

THE INDIANA BREWER'S CUP

We're in a little bit of a Summer lull when it comes to competitions... But next up we have the Indiana State Fair (Aka. Indiana Brewer's Cup).  This is a AHA sanctioned BJCP competition and it's also a member comp of the Midwest Homebrewer of the Year Circuit.
